Country Lolita week!

Hey everyone! It is country Lolita week. So this week is all about cute country themes and motifs. Lots of strawberries, natural makeup, wicker hats and baskets, and everything is absolutely adorable. ^_^ This particular style is close to my heart since I'm a country girl myself. I really really love this style. Please enjoy! I apologize these photos are all older, this style never caught on in popularity.

Oh look that interview I promised 2 weeks ago

Sorry this is soooo late coming guys. This is the lovely Lolita I interviewed at Youmacon! Her name is Alyssa. Her blog can be found here.
All answers are slightly paraphrased. For the sake of length questions asked will have H2L before them and answers will have A in front of them. :) Okay?

H2L: What drove you to start dressing in Lolita?
A: I was interested for a while, maybe 3 or 4 years. I didn't have any pieces but I started talking to friends about it and got really excited. They reassured me I'd look cute.

H2L: What do you do to keep the cost down?
A: I get my main pieces off the sale community or 2nd hand. I get shoes and accessories from stores in the mall, thrift stores, and off brand places.

H2L: What is your favorite brand?
A: Baby the Stars Shine Bright

H2L: What is your favorite style of Lolita?
A: Either classic or sweet.

H2L: What standard of quality do you uphold?
A: I will buy replicas but they have to be decent quality replicas.

Thank you so much Alyssa for letting me photograph/interview you. :) <3

This week's theme is HIME LOLITA!

Hime Lolita or Princess Lolita is a style associate with elegance. This style reflects a feel of royalty and can be seen in several different forms depending on what country's royalty you choose to embody. Common colors are pink and blue. Makeup can be slightly over the top, though it is usually natural colors. Makeup is very natural looking (though some liberty can be taken with blush). Here are some examples. :)

First Store Review: Creative Arts Studio

So the Creative Arts Studio is in Royal Oak Michigan and I can't even explain how I excited I was when I happened upon this place. Not only do they sell really cute jewelry for everybody, they have a LOT of stuff that could easily be done with Lolita. Think that is where the fun ends? Well it isn't. They also have pottery painting, wheel throwing, mosaic making, and MUCH MORE in the way of art. This place is seriously cool and REALLY affordable. Here is their website!  So now here are the pictures they were nice enough to let me take. :)

These rings are totally adjustable ($10)

These bows are 2 for $7 and come in several styles/colors.

I don't remember how much the necklaces were, I want to say $7-$10 but I don't remember for sure. Had several styles/colors.

These are some examples of the pottery you could paint. These are sugar dishes. Imagine, customizable sugar dishes for tea parties!

Gothic Lolita week!

So this week is Gothic Lolita week. This is one of the most recognized and most executed types of Lolita. Gothic Lolita is often seen using black and white but can actually be black and ANY color. It is sometimes seen as a combination of western goth and sweet Lolita. This is NOT a subsection of goth however. Many Lolitas start with this style because it is easy to buy products locally. The term Gothic Lolita is often mis-used and Gothic Lolita is often labeled incorrectly, so be careful. I'll do my best not to make that mistake. ^_^

So here are the examples! (Source!)
