Happy New Years!

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last year. It seems like it passed very quickly and yet it seems like so long ago at the same time. I feel I've matured several years in this year (mostly in the past 6 months). Things that haven't changed, I'm still single, I'm still a brunette (didn't think I would be), and I'm still able to return to college (that was up in the air). Things that have changed, I've lost a best friend, I've switched to part time, I've got a job, and I've developed so much as a person. One of the biggest things that has changed in the past year is my love for Lolita has grown and I've begun to wear it a bit. This has influenced me to take up sewing, which I've always wanted to learn. It has just become midnight literally right this second! Anyways so much has changed this year that I can't really put into a post and yet my life seems oddly monotone. Well hopefully the next year will allow me to mature in my life, my Lolita, and my sewing skills. Cheers!

Week 14 is Guro Lolita Week!

I really really love this style. I like the sort of contrast between the edginess and the softness of Lolita. This style has a lot of eye patches and fake blood. This style can be pretty crazy and can fall into the cosplay category. All the pictures here are the expected guru, white dress with red stains. There is more creative ways to do guru so don't be afraid to experiment. Broken dolls is a theme that has been done a few times and it would be awesome to see more of that. Hair can be a bit messy along as it is done on purpose and with a reason. I hope you all enjoy this week and feel inspired to take your Lolita out of the norm! ^_^

Merry Christmas!

Also Happy Holidays to anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas. I hope everyone has had a delightful holiday season. Here is a really cute Lolita illustration I found here. I thought it was really great and I hope you like it as much as I do!

Week 13 is Punk Lolita week!

I've been looking for some pictures and I think I found some good stuff! I hope you all enjoy it. So a brief overview of Punk Lolita: It is the crossing of Lolita with the Eastern style of Punk (that part is pretty obvious). This style features lots of layering, fishnet, chains, and studs. Some are slightly closer to normal Lolita shapes and cuts but have subtle punk elements to them. Hair is pretty much a free for all in this style so it is great for girls with short hair who don't like wigs. Makeup can be a bit heavier in this style than some of the softer styles (Sweet, Classic, Hime). This style can often be challenging to pull off well.

Here are some examples!

My coordinate

I know this is lacking some serious things. My socks needed repairs, I have no Lolita shoes, and no blouse. Sooo this is as close as I can get as this point. That being said here it is.

Note: The skirt, bow, bow ring, and necklace are hand made by me. The shoes, shirt, and cake ring are off brand.

Wa Lolita week!

So today was a presentation at my school about Lolita (done by me for a class) so I'm wearing Lolita around. :) Feel cute. Will post outfit pics later hopefully.

So this week is Wa Lolita week. This is a really hard style to find GOOD content for. T__T So if you guys have done Wa Lolita you should contact me via facebook or comment here with your email so I can get them from you (with a link to your blog).

For those who don't know Wa Lolita is Kimono style Lolita dresses. The makeup for this can be a little more fun and dark hair seems to be pretty common. There are a LOT of things that are done wrong in this style. :/ So a brief list of things that IN MY OPINION shouldn't be done. Cheap satin material is a no in any Lolita, this is not an exception. I saw a full Hello Kitty dress. o_o just no. I appreciate Hello Kitty but a full coordinate? No. Just no. I saw many accessories that were a disconnect from the outfit also. Please plan accordingly.

There is a lot of debate on whether this and Qi should be considered lolita. Personally I'm not fond of these styles and they should not be attempted by beginners.

So here are a few good ones I found. (All sources will be posted at the end of the week again for sake of saving time and ease.)

Just a last minute mention. I think I'm going to, on a weekend some time, make a wish list post and the list of things I plan to buy ASAP and the ones I plan on making ASAP. This will then be an edited universal post that will be updated as things are bought/newly wanted/made. ^_^

Week11 is Sailor Lolita!

This style is characterized by a sailor look...obviously. This means anchors, ribbons, blue and white, and cute hats! Makeup is REALLY simple and short hair or curls works well here. You won't see too many wigs in this style. So here are some examples! (I will put all my sources for the week on my post on Friday).

Meet up photos!

So as many of you know yesterday was my first Lolita meet up. I had a LOT of fun. The person who set it up gave away little gift bags with candy and little erasers in them. We went to the Detroit Institute of the Arts (DIA) and looked around at all the wonderful pieces. I'm glad I was able to have this experience. ^_^ So on to the photos. (Also, I'm not going to label the photos with names because I simply couldn't remember everyone's. Sorry. UvU )

In the lobby waiting for everyone to get tickets.

Group shot. THere were a few people who showed up afterwards.

Another group shot in lobby of DIA.

Walking towards the first gallery.

Look at all the Lolitas looking at art!

In the Roman statue area.

Modern (or contemporary?) art section. Taking a break.
